Misho school was founded by Mishosai Ippo at the end of the 18th century. It is a Kansai-origin school and even today it is mostly popular in the Osaka-Kobe area.
Misho ikebana can be divided into two categories: Kaku-bana and Shin-ka.
Kaku-bana is the basic style. It utilizes three branches that represent Heaven, Man and Earth.
Shin-ka is an applied or free style that can be classified into two arrangement types: Moribana and Heika.
Moribana arrangements are those made using a kenzan (needle-pointed holder) in a flat basin, while Heika arrangements are those that are constructed in a tall cylinder or bottle type vase.
