Senke Seishin

The Senke Seishin school of Ikebana began 60 years ago in Seattle when it became independent from the Senke school in Japan.  The Senke Seishin school of Seattle is affiliated with Senke Ikebana in Akita, Japan.

The Senke Seishin style of flower arranging follows a traditional discipline.  Formal arrangements are called Usabata, and these are always arranged in a three piece container.  Themes for the arrangements of this school are naturalistic, following the four seasons.  Other styles, including traditional, are moribana (shallow container), and nageire (tall container).  Occasionally abstract arrangements are made.
